Bio

it's just music ...but it sure is fun

Al LaMonaca, a Roots and Bluegrass mainstay of the Calgary music scene for decades has played guitar, banjo and dobro in acoustic bands, duos and trios: Stray Dawgs, Rock Bottom, Hothouse Bluegrass Band (opened for Alison Kraus in Calgary) and Wheatland County (kicked off the very first Edmonton Folk Festival in 1978) to name a few.

From an interview with Darcy Whiteside CKUA

"At the beginning of 2020 I challenged myself to record an album using GarageBand on my iPad. I had more than enough original material and a few covers on paper and went to work.

It’s one thing to record a dozen songs on GarageBand in my piano room and another thing altogether to edit and mix those same tunes into something listenable -is that even a word?

My dear friend, songwriting collaborator and occasional band-mate Jarred Albright did all the heavy lifting in the editing and mixing department and voilà!! THE BOATHOUSE DEMO TAPES album!!"
